Hostess - Aili Dawson
Aili has the perfect spirit for doing what she does best, entertaining guests and making sure they are pampered at all times. Her outgoing and friendly nature will make you feel at home from your first step on board the ship.
Aili has been skiing and enjoying the outdoors since a young age, including 10 years as a competitive ski racer. An extensive background in the hospitality industry will ensure your expectations of a dream holiday are fulfilled.
Captain - John Dawson
As well as thirty+ years of owning and operating a variety of different vessels, John has been a keen outdoorsman and skier all his life. His experience with helicopters began in 1996 when John started an erosion control operation. An integral part of this new venture was a heavy lift helicopter delivery system for mountain environments and light aircraft for moving crews around. The company became a leader in reclaiming and protecting the environment from natural and man-made disasters.
John's passion for exploring new areas, far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life will become evident as you enjoy your holiday with him and the crew aboard the “Astral Star”.
Chef - Chef Mary Ellen McKnight
M.E. has an extensive background in the culinary field. She has worked as a pastry chef for Canadian Mountain Holidays Heli-Skiing including the exclusive private lodge in Valemount, B.C.
For 18 years she owned and operated a catering company for the film industry deploying 3 mobile kitchens. She catered to the likes of Harrison Ford, Brad Pitt, Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn. Her food is created with passion and designed to offer a variety in flavours, and menu choices.
All food is prepared with only the best ingredients, including freshly caught seafood. Her mission commitment: "personalize and create a menu suitable to individual groups tastes and special requests".
Stewardess/Therapist/First Aid - Natasha Ferguson
Tasha was born and raised on Vancouver Island in the Comox Valley. Although her career and desire for travel have taken her all around the globe, she still comes back to the place she loves to call home. She is an avid snowboarder, river rafter, and loves to surf.
Her keen enthusiasm for life is catching, which along with her background in the hospitality industry and Level 111 First Aid Training makes her an integral part of the crew.
